This school year and the English course

My opinion on the school year in international English is that it has been moore different then i had expected. It has been different with using this blogg, because i have never tried something like it befor. And it has been moore different from the English i had in the first grade, because we have learnd moore about things like global challanges and things like that.  But its has been fun to learn about it, and I think the school year has been fun and informativo. :)

How good am I at searching for information?

We got a task from our teacher where we should see how long time we used tom find some specific infomation. We got a link to a slide show, witch you can see it here. To find all the answers in total I used 7 minutes and 14 seconds. I am happy with the result, but I havent compared my result with any others.

In depth work

Innhold

Background

In september 2010, Qatar was given the honour of arrange the world championchip in football. The only problem with Qatar hosting the World Cup, is that many people is suspecting that Qatar bought The rights to arrange the cup, instead of and getting it awarded to them fair. Many people is writing and saying that the championship is all corruption, with will say, as i wrote before people taking money og services from people so they can get what they want. And Qatar is also the maybe the richest country in the world, and one of the most powerful country in the world.

FIFA

When the FIFA president Joseph ¨Sepp¨ Blatter said that Qatar should be hosting the Championchip, many people was surprised and thought that Blatter had been bribe by the powerfull and rich Qatar. And today, more then 5 years later, he is still under investigation, and he is in danger of being banned from all football for taking money from differents people, in exchange for different services. But it’s also very difficult to proff that he has done anything wrong, since he is a powerfull and rich man, so he can almost do what he want, and get away with it by bribing people. This is what’s called corruption. According to Tass, (Russian state news agency),
“Sepp Blatter, said it was decided that Russia should host the 2018 tournament, while the U.S. would host in 2022. “For the World Cups it was agreed that we go to Russia because it’s never been in Russia, Eastern Europe, and for 2022 we go back to America,” Blatter said. “And so we will have the World Cup in the two biggest political powers.” But Instead the World Cup in 2022 was given to Qatar. Blatter then said then French President Nicolas Sarkozy met with Qatar’s crown prince over lunch and then told the Union of European Football Associations President Michel Platini that it would be a good idea for the Middle Eastern nation to host the tournament.”(“Blatter Confesses To FIFA World Cup Corruption?,” 2015)
Also in this interview, Blatter started to blame Platini for the current problems the in football world.

FIFA

FIFA’s ethics committee has suspended both Blatter and Platini (the vies president in FIFA) The reason for this is,
“For three months over a payment FIFA made to Platini for over $1 million. Blatter said that if the U.S had been awarded the World Cup, none of the current problems would had been taking place. When the Tass interviewer asked Blatter if it was possible that Russia would lose its hosting responsibility, he said it was not a possibility. “No, you will never lose the World Cup,” (“Blatter Confesses To FIFA World Cup Corruption?,” 2015)
Blatter said. “It has been anchored in FIFA. There will be no change in the World Cup.” This is what makes people wonder. FIFA had decided that the world cup was going to the U.S, but then they give it to Qatar, and people don’t think it’s because a middel east country never had arranged it befor. They belive that it’s because Blatter and others in the FIFA was given money. Because after some investigation, it was known that after Blatter revealed that Qatar was going to host the cup, they found out that he had been getting a big sum of money to his bank account, and it was unknown where the money came from. But they assume that it is the money Qatar gave him for giving them the world cup.

On the Picture over you see Blatter after a comidian went in on one of his press conference, and said all he cared about was money, not football, and then he threw a lot of fake money on him.

Working conditions

It’s not only the curroption scandal that has been in focus when it comes to the Qatar World cup in 2022. The working conditions to the workers who build the stadiums and other things that should be ready for the cup. They are working in deadly heat, deadly conditions and they make extremely little money. BBC wrote an article about a rumor that said that so far 1,200 people had died while working there. The name of the article is ¨ Have 1,200 World Cup workers really died in Qatar? (4 & Less, 2015)
So iveen are not sure if the deth numbers are correct. To me it also hard to pitchure if so many people died on such short time. Also the norwegian news page wrote that 44 people died in onley two months, (“Sjokkundersøkelse,” 2013)
so even though the numbers from BBC or TV2 are correct, it’s no doubt that alot of people die while working on building the stuff that has to be ready for 2022. If it countinues like this, experts says that maybe 4,000 workers will die before the staidiums and evreything is done building. The workers are called ¨Qatar’s world cup slaves¨. This might be because an immigrant worker gets payed £4.90 a day with is 46,52 Norwegian Kroners. (“Valutakurs for EUR,” n.d.)
This is also maybe the richest country in the world, so it is strange that the workers are getting so little payed. The most of them also work maybe up to 30 days a month, so they are risking their lives for almost no money.

In this picture I think shows perfect how the situation for the workers are in Qatar. The “slaves for the world cup” is working hard, in the heat, only working there because it’s the only place where they can get work, while the rich powerful man in the back just sits there and does nothing except using money to buy what he wants.

On the pitcher over you can see how many workers died to build the world cup I South Africa, Brazil, and how many died so far in Russia and how many died so far in Qatar.

Conclution

So to sum-up. The FIFA president is being under investigated for corruption, and he is now suspended from all football because of the accusations. They believe that president Blatter has taken a big sum of money from Qatar, so he could let them have the world cup. In addition, the conditions for the workers are terrible and they are paid maybe less then what is legal in Norway. Qatar is “buying” the world cup do become more popular for tourists and political, but with all these accusations, I do not think that they will become as popular as the hoped.
Also since it so hot in Qatar, the world cup might have to be played in the winter, and it is almost a tradition that the world cup is played in the summer.

Comment upon two other students’ presentations

Today i was on to other bloggs. My clasemates Sander and Ellen Sofie. I look at Sander's exam task, and have to say he did a good job on writing it and posting it. He had some good answers.
I also looked in Ellen's blogg and saw that she had strong opinions about the human rights taskes. I know that Ellen is smart and has strong opinions about almost everything, but she impressed me this time as well, with very long and good answers.

Poetry p337 4+ a) or b)

b) The poem "The immigrant" i belive is about a girl that has been traveling to america maybe, in a ship, over the ocean, to come to a better place to live. i'am guessing that she was young when she travled, becasue it says tht\at she could not remember traveling, or maybe she just dont want to remember that she traveld, or what she traveld from. I belive that the poem is about how immigrant have to get used to new places and new people.

The Volunteer p251 1a-f and 3a-f

1a) the significance of the first Opening sentence of the story is that Carrie does not like to work for free in India, because the first sentence is ‘’Sharing doesn’t work’’. In addition, by that she might think that when she is working there, she feels like it does not work.

1b)  Carrie has gotten a new life in India, where her husband work and she volunteer at a kindergarten of some sort. Here she have to take care of 18 children that she has a different culture and different language. Especially the fact that she does not speak the same language as the others does it very hard for her to work there.

1c) Carrie approach to the children by yelling and giving them orders, while Didi is more kind and polite and patient whit the children. That might be because Carrie does not know how to communicate whit them, so she has to yell for them to understand.

1d+) The text is written from Carries point of view, and that helps us see the story and dilemma from carries eyes.

1f+) I think the theme of the story is cultural differences, in this case, between India and USA.

3a) "The kids surge forward like a shoel of piranhas" is something Carrie says about the childeren to show that she does not like to work with them, and comparing them with prinanhas is in a way saying that the children is dangerous, and in the long run will kill her maybe.

3b) "She's batterd by noise" can be seen ass carrie is ill physically.

3c)"The edges of the malestorm" when this is written the children are described in a bad way once again, and show that she hates working there.

3d) "The children dissolve in a squirming puddle" she more and more describing the children ass animals and incescts.

3e)"in this part of town buildings are pressed thin by other buildings, rooms are compressed to corridors"  The writer gives life to the building, and this might be claustrophobic for Carrie

3f)"sharp voives ricochet off the walls" this might be ment as that the children makes load noises all the time, and it is to mutch for Carrie.

7. febrary exsam task

Picture 1:
On the first picture, we can see Snowden, which is a symbol for human rights, or more a fighter for human rights. Snowden was working for the NSA (The National Security Agency), and the NSA was secretly spying on almost the whole population in the USA over the internet or over the phone. Snowden choose to share that the NSA was doing illegal spying with the world, and the world found out that NSA was breaking the human rights. The government is trying to catch Snowden, since telling the world about these secret documents was illegal as well, but many people has been helping Snowden hide from the U.S government, because they think he did the right thing by telling it to the world. However, What the NSA and the U.S government did was a clear violation on the human rights. People should to things without being watched all the time.
The picture is showing that people, from all over the world, are supporting Snowden for what he did. On the pitcher, we see people from Asia that are supporting Snowden, calling him a hero, and saying shame on the U.S government, for trying to send him to prison. So yeah, the message of the picture is that all over the world, people are happy for what Snowden did.
The message on this picture is that Snowden is a hero, and that he is being thanked form all over the world, and the pitcher shows it fast, because you can see on the people and there writing that they are from Asia, and they are supporting Snowden, for what he did in the USA. And this message conveys very fast and effectively.

Picture 2
In the second picture, we see a photo of the autobiography of Julian Assange. Personally, I have never heard of Julian Assange, but on the photo of his book, there is a photo of Julian’s face. In addition, the title of the book in written in front his mouth, which is a hint that he might never have been allowed to say what he means, which is a violation on the independence right, which is a human right.
The message of the pictures might be that it is never too late speak up and say what is on our hart.
To understand this message you might have to think a lot before you find out what the message is, so I do not think that it is effectively send a message to the people.

Picture 3 (4)
The last picture is about Human Trafficking. We can see four types of human trafficking, which is “forced harbour, trafficking children, sexual trafficking and trafficking of organs that has been removed without the will of the persons that loses they’re organs. All of these things are violation on human rights, and is a big problem in the world, although I believe the most people, including me, does not know a lot about these things. I believe it is a bigger problem than we think.
I think all of these pitchers are showing us that this is a big problem, because the pictures are so intense, and you can easily see that people that is being taken advantage of, is being treated wrong.
I think this message is easy to see, because the photos are so intense and it is easy to see that it is wrong.
